The origins of three-dimensional robotic arms date back more than forty years. As early as the beginning of the 1960s, such devices had already made their debut. Over four decades of evolution, robotic arms have become indispensable equipment in modern automated manufacturing. Throughout their development, they have been continuously refined and enhanced.
Humanoid robotic hands, miniature robotic hands, micro‑operational systems, robotized manipulators, intelligent robotic hands, and more have been developed. As robotic hand technology continues to advance, its applications have expanded beyond manufacturing to encompass the service sector and everyday life, while military‑grade robotic hands are also experiencing rapid growth.
In recent years, the performance of industrial robots abroad has continued to improve, while their unit prices have steadily declined. In terms of structure, they are evolving toward modularity and reconfigurability, and their control systems are trending toward open‑architecture controllers based on PCs.
According to an analysis by a manufacturer of three-dimensional robotic arms, domestically, several models have now essentially mastered the design and manufacturing technologies for robotic manipulators, addressing the design and configuration of control and drive systems—for example, in handling robots, assembly robots, painting robots, arc-welding robots, spot-welding robots, and specialized robots. Moreover, they have attained high proficiency in key software design and programming techniques, as well as in comprehensive automated communication and coordinated control technologies.
Overall, according to manufacturers of three-dimensional robotic arms, China has essentially established the technological foundation for independently developing such systems. As a result, China’s robotics technology will continue to advance, and the range of available robotic arm models will become increasingly diverse.
