Control Requirements for a 2D Manipulator
The first step is that when a workpiece appears on worktable A (detectable by the photoelectric coupler I0.3 being ON), the robotic arm begins to descend. Once the arm has reached its lower limit (detectable by the limit switch I0.5 being ON), it stops descending, and the first step is complete. The second step involves the robotic arm gripping the workpiece at its lowest position; after approximately 10 seconds (T101=ON), the grip is secured, marking the end of the second step.

How do industrial robots improve factory productivity?
With the widespread adoption and advancement of sheet-metal stamping processes, industrial robotics has emerged as a major industry in China. However, the sector’s level of automation remains relatively low; most companies still rely on manual labor combined with semi‑automated operations, resulting in both low production efficiency and frequent workplace accidents. The integrated application of industrial robots with CNC machine tools is transforming smart manufacturing, digital workshops, and intelligent factories from conceptual ideas into tangible realities.
Advantages of robotic arms
The advantages of multi‑joint manipulators include flexible motion, low dynamic inertia, strong versatility, the ability to grasp workpieces close to the base, and the capacity to operate while navigating obstacles between the robot body and the workpiece. As production demands evolve, increasingly stringent requirements are being placed on a manipulator’s dexterity, positioning accuracy, and workspace. Moreover, multi‑joint arms have transcended traditional design paradigms: their number of joints can range from three to a dozen or even more, and their configurations are no longer confined to the human‑like arm shape—instead, they adapt to diverse application scenarios. The superior performance of multi‑joint manipulators is unmatched by single‑joint robots.

Robotic arm
Robotic manipulators were the earliest industrial robots and also among the first modern robots. They can replace humans in performing heavy, repetitive tasks, thereby enabling the mechanization and automation of production, and they can operate in hazardous environments to ensure human safety. As a result, they are widely used in sectors such as mechanical manufacturing, metallurgy, electronics, light industry, and nuclear energy.
